Learning from Levites: A perspective.

There’s a question that comes up a lot in my coaching journey, both personally and with clients: What am I here to do? It’s a big question, and one that’s inspired me to look beyond just the “how” of coaching to really understand the “why.”

Recently, I’ve found a new perspective through prayer and I was guided to learn about the Levites.

“Levites were known as the guardians of sacred spaces, keepers of the temple, teachers of the law, and facilitators of worship. In many ways, they kept a community connected, not just to faith but to purpose and alignment. Their role wasn’t just religious; it was purposeful service, protecting the sacred, and ensuring that people stayed focused on what mattered most.”

Now I am clearly not a priest, or descendant, nor do I have any knowledge of the ancient priesthood but there were aspects of this that resonated with my heart, I couldn’t help but notice how these insights align with my hearts desire in my approach to coaching. For instance, in the early days of my website it was called Alignment Coaching vs. Paradigm Coaching. In a different context, consider how the body is called the temple and in Paradigm Coaching I teach people to honor the mind, heart, and gut centers into the whole of their human experience. It’s a neat way to look at it. That’s all.

There are many other parallels that I could make. Here are some that stood out.

Service and Support by Holding Space

Levites weren’t the ones seeking the spotlight; they supported others in their connection to the sacred.

Similarly, in coaching, it’s not about being the hero but about holding space. My role isn’t to “fix” anyone but to walk alongside you as you face the hard stuff. Just like the Levites supported the community, my role as a coach is to create a steady, trustworthy space that allows you to grow at your own pace, with all the honesty and strength you bring to the table.

Guiding the Return to Your Core Values

The Levites taught others about values, boundaries, and the deeper principles of life.

In coaching, it’s not that different in concept. Paradigm Coaching is about reconnecting with who you are and rethinking the paths you take. It’s easy to get lost in external expectations or cultural noise, but guiding you back to your own values is the real work. It’s a process of clarifying what already lies within, not adding more on top.

Guarding the Sacred Space

Levites stood guard over sacred spaces, ensuring they remained undisturbed.

As a coach, I work hard to create that sacred, undisturbed environment for you as a place where judgment doesn’t stand a chance and where you feel truly safe to explore the real, unpolished parts of yourself. Protecting this boundary is non-negotiable for me, because it’s in that safety that real growth happens. The coaching space is sacred; it’s yours to be raw, open, and entirely yourself as you give what you have to give in hope of finding a greater truth.

Reflections and Celebrating Milestones

Levites led rituals that gave meaning to transitions, whether that was marking a new season or recognizing a moment of reflection.

Ironically, I just posted recently that I’m not starting a new chapter, I’m starting a new book. Paradigm Coaching brings a similar focus. Each session, we’re marking progress, whether it’s a shift in mindset, overcoming a barrier, or reaching a goal. I believe in celebrating these moments, not just as progress points but as sacred milestones in your own journey. This isn’t just about achieving things; it’s about embracing your journey in its entirety, each phase with meaning.

Your Worship Honors Your Path

At the heart of a Levite’s role was helping people realign with purpose and worship.

For me, coaching is about helping you “worship” or honor your own God given path. You don’t have to be defined by others’ expectations; you can be driven by what truly resonates with you. Paradigm Coaching is about helping you cut through the noise to focus on what’s authentically yours. I’m here to help you discover and own that path, with purpose and clarity.

Why Does This Matter?

Purpose isn’t just about what we do; it’s about how we do it. Taking a cue from the Levites has given me a deeper respect for the responsibility and honor of coaching as my method of sacrifice and worship to God for the gift He has given me. Coaching isn’t just about strategies or goals; it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, safe, and aligned to a higher calling. It’s about finding the courage to live authentically, to honor who you are in every step you take.

If you’re seeking clarity, looking to realign with your core, or simply trying to figure out what’s next, Paradigm Coaching might just be the support you’ve been searching for. I’m going to explore what this revelation means in terms of my business model but in the meantime, let’s get you moving toward a purpose that feels real and a path that feels possible. Ready to take that first step? I’m here when you are.
